The Other Side of Grief
There is Life After Loss
No one should have to feel alone in their grief. The Other Side of Grief offers simple, compassionate, relatable poems that explore the complicated emotions of the grieving process. From her own experiences with shock and despair, in relation to death and grief, poet Dianne Rossol evokes the heartache of missing a loved one as well as the memories we cherish from when they were alive. Understanding that one’s spiritual beliefs may be challenged during times of grief, Rossol explores themes of religious solace, recovery, and inner peace.
The Other Side of Grief is a book of uplifting spirituality, wisdom, and acceptance of life’s joys and pains. These poems will be your gentle companions along the path of sorrow, love and acceptance, helping to navigate your loss in a positive way. You are not alone in your grief.
Dianne Rossol has been passionate about poetry since taking a creative writing course at the University of Calgary in the 1990s. The unexpected and horrifying death of her father left her with a post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) diagnosis. After decades of living with fear and anxiety, writing poetry was one of the tools that finally helped her heal and sort through her complicated feelings of grief. Her poems identify emotions of loss and recovery that are common to everyone who has experienced bereavement. She lives with her husband in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
