What happened to The Gingerbread Girl
"This lullaby is like a teaspoon of medicine that puts my sister to bed every time. As soon as my mom begins to sing it, Isabelle nestles in her arms and quietly goes to sleep. It works like a charm for her afternoon naps and at bedtime. Even in car rides Isabelle would ask my mom to sing the gingerbread song and before you know she is fast asleep. Most times my mom is only half way through the song and she is already asleep. It is so beautiful to hear I tell her to finish it so I can hear it too. I love listening to it myself, because it is very relaxing and puts me in a dreamy world."
Aaron Liebskind - 9 years old
Illana Barran was inspired to write this musical adaptation of the classic Gingerbread story while singing to her young daughter. Rather than simply reading her stories, she developed tunes and sung them. Her daughter would smile; her eyes would light up; looking forward to a song. Thus, every story became a lullaby at anytime, when a soothing remedy was needed. When Illana is not writing short stories and poetry in her Connecticut home, she enjoys sports, photography, painting, cooking for family and friends and travelling with her husband and children. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University, and GCE O'Levels from Oxford and Cambridge.
