Wally Goes Country
by
Sharon L. Crandall
Wally loves his life in the city. He lives in a cozy apartment with all the treats and toys he can dream of. Wally never wonders about life outside the city until his owner takes him to her mother’s house in the country—and leaves him there! The country is nothing like the city. It’s scary! The ground feels strange, there are new smells around every corner, and everyone expects Wally to hunt for his own food. Plus, his new brother Walter doesn’t seem to like him very much. Wally wishes he were as brave as a country cat, but as he and Walter get to know each other, Wally might just learn that city cats have their own kind of courage . . .
Sharon L. Crandall is an artist who expresses herself through sewing, wood carving, painting, and writing. Her debut picture book, Wally Goes Country, was inspired by her love of animals. The story took root in her imagination as she was going through cancer treatment, and she originally shared it with her grandchildren. When Sharon isn’t creating art, she can be found hiking, gardening, or reading. She lives in New Brunswick with her husband, Daniel, and their animals.
