The Colors Jesse Sees
by
Bob Bartel
Jesse’s first day of school is NOT off to a good start! At home on the farm, Jesse sees tractors in every color of the rainbow! He knows colors by the names of the tractors and not by their traditional names. When he shows up at school for the first time, he is all mixed up: are strawberries red, or are they Case, the color of his neighbor’s tractor? Is grass green, or is it John Deere, like his mom’s tractor? When he calls the colors by the tractor names the other kids laugh at him! With a little help from his friends and family, Jesse’s classmates come to understand his point of view.
