Nevertheless She Persisted
What to Expect When You're Not Expecting Cancer
by Dr. Christa L. Wilkin

Nevertheless She Persisted is an engaging collection of Christa’s blog writing while managing life with cancer. Honest and heartfelt, she recounts her emotional and physical journey from the time of diagnosis and offers extremely valuable social critiques on how people view, understand, and interact with both cancer patients and cancer itself. She offers feedback on how to approach these subjects more compassionately from her deeply personal posts, photographs, anecdotes, and more light-hearted stories, showing a young woman living her life to the fullest and finding meaning despite her diagnosis. Christa shares her experiences in hopes to help and inspire others diagnosed with cancer, chronic or terminal illness and for their families and friends, to support and show you are not alone in your journey.

At the time of Christa’s diagnosis, she is a young married professor who just gave birth to her son. “The best day of my life was also the worst day of my life the day I became a mom and a cancer patient”. Radiation and chemotherapy treatments commenced and so did Christa’s blogs and videos to share her open and honest perspective and what she learned throughout treatment to help others in their everyday lives in their journey with cancer. “Cancer is persistent, but so am I”.
