Be the Best Bee You Can Be
by Alma Hogan and John Hogan

When little Beatrice goes out to the garden to play—tired of being ignored by her siblings—she is amazed to find a kindred spirit buzzing about the blooms! Beatrice has found a little bee who wishes she was someone else, envious of the colours, and talents, and confidence of others. While Beatrice’s siblings are too busy with their phones and social media, Beatrice is busy learning that everyone is special in their own way and that she should be happy to be the best bee she can be! If only Beatrice could teach her siblings the same lesson … but how? Join Beatrice as she discovers what amazing things await us when we put down our phones, stop comparing ourselves to others and worrying about what they are doing, and focus on living our best lives!

Alma Hogan and her husband, John raised two children and are blessed with six grandchildren. Their grandchildren, Sydney and Ireland Hogan along with Eden and Makai Miggins acted as illustrators for this book. As retired high-school teachers, Alma and John have a world of experience in dealing with adolescent and pre-adolescent issues tied to self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. They’ve watched as these issues have grown even more complicated and prevalent over the years, due, in large part, to the pressures of social media. They created this story as an important reminder for young people to appreciate who they are and stop comparing themselves to others. Alma and John live in Windsor, Ontario.
