Talking About Sex
Sexuality and Biblical Law with Topical Concordance
by
Rose E. Graber
If you’ve been looking for a Bible study on Sexuality, then this is the book for you! Sexuality has been a divisive issue in many churches. Many of us want to be faithful Christians but aren't sure what to do with Biblical law and sexuality. Christians struggle with the issues of sexuality that exist in our churches today. Non-Christians are curious about what the Bible says and does not say on the issue of sexuality. Many struggle with what to do with troubling "rules" in the Bible and whether they should just abandon their faith.Taking a sweep across the whole Bible in handy lessons with questions and comparison charts Rose helps you look at this controversial subject with room for conversation and airing of different understandings. What is sin? What saves us? Are relationships more important or the following of the Law? And what is the Law for anyway? Here is a book that does not rely on anything but the text of the Bible itself. Here is a way of reading the Bible that we can all live with.
Some readers have said:
“Not everything is as black and white as we may have been led to think!”
This study: “definitely challenges us to be open to listen and not judge harshly”
“There are a variety of ways of reading the Scripture; as a rule book, as history, as science, as God’s infallible, inerrant scripture somehow passed, word for word, through the brains and pens of Moses and others. I am coming to see Scripture as an unfolding story of people of God trying to make sense of the world and being guided by the Spirit – though often imperfectly, to the ultimate revelation of God in Jesus Christ."
Sexuality has divided churches, families and individuals, but it doesn't have to. Here is a Bible study that sweeps the whole Bible and looks at what really is God's Word to us on this divisive issue. How we read the Bible and understand it is crucial as we seek reconciliation with God and each other. Written for congregations in 13 lessons we can learn to talk with each other safely. We can look at what the Law was for to God's people. We can ask what is best; following the Law or relationship with God and others?

I am coming to see Scripture as an unfolding story of God's people trying to make sense of the world, being guided by the Spirit – to the ultimate revelation of God in Jesus Christ. If we look at the big picture of God seeking relationship with us, then Leviticus with its various laws can be placed in better perspective.”
Rose Graber grew up in the Mennonite Church. She has served in Mennonite Voluntary Service in Hamilton, Ontario; spent time in an ecumenical contemplative convent (Grandchamp) in Switzerland for 7 months; done missionary church planting in Brazil; been a co-pastor, chaplain, and lead pastor in several congregations. She has been a moderator of the Eastern District Conference of Mennonites in the United States, and served on a variety of Mennonite conference committees. She graduated from Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminaries with an M.Div. in 1982.
The issue of sexuality has been an issue she has struggled with for most of her pastoral life. The Bible has always been vital to her spirituality, so finding a way to understand God's will in this area and put it in simple terms has been a life-long process. She is also a wife to Dan Graber, a mother of 3, and a proud grandma.
