Child's Love
Broken Promises
by Frances Hanson

A child’s love has been filled with broken promises. At the age of eight the child ‘Liv’ embarks a journey across Canada in the luggage cargo of a bus. Liv’s biological mother, Ruby, is a self center person who realizes her ticket to freedom is having children. Welfare is Ruby’s solution to have a fun filled life and capitalizing on her beauty to ensnare men. Liv’s journey to leave this dysfunctional environment has created change with her family in Montreal and her new family in Calgary. Liv makes a promise to her siblings that she will bring them to Calgary. An impossible promise for a child to fulfil. Liv’s adoptive parents, Peter and Gayle, are loving, caring and supportive. Hiring detectives have Liv’s parent fully aware of Ruby’s narcissistic nature. Engaging the prospect of pursing Liv’s siblings lunges fear in the hearts of Peter and Gayle. Chuck is Liv’s biological father who is a good man supporting his parents with their large family. The man, Chuck, is heart broken with the pull of his obligations and never seems to have the resources legally to get Liv back. Liv’s siblings grow up and never forget their eldest sister. Flick is Liv’s younger brother who is full of spunk and character. Kandy and Sugar are Liv’s younger sisters who learn well the ways of their mother, Ruby. Liv also learns there are three more brothers, Salt, Gunner and Gavin. The story is filled with interesting characters. A plot filled with complicated situations and challenging relationships. A story threaded with drama, humor, and great love for family. A read that does not disappoint.
