The Beaver and the Muskrat
...or the perils of moving day
by B. Smith

Have you ever noticed that things sometimes look more exciting and fun just over the next hill? Well, in the case of Mr. Beaver, things always seem to look better just a little farther down the stream. His friend Mr. Muskrat is eager to convince him that happiness is just around the next bend in the river, and then the next one after that. But why? Mr. Beaver just wants to be happy, and he’s about to learn that despite his friend’s advice, finding his perfect happy place might not be as easy as just moving downstream.

Self-taught Canadian artist Joseph Koensgen has been painting from a young age with a passion for wildlife. Each artistic vision is brought to life by his keen interest in nature and artistic eye.

B. Smith has taught school for 30 years and was the recipient of several awards in the fields of science and language arts. He believes that encouraging students to write, whether fiction or non-fiction, is one of the best ways to encourage a love of learning. This is his second book. Lush and vivid illustrations by self-taught Canadian artist, Joseph Koensgen (www.josephkoensgen.com), bring this tale of two friends, who have very different ideas of what happiness means, to life. Joseph has been painting from a young age and has a keen interest in nature and a passion for wildlife.
