OUT of Place
by
John J. Guiney Yallop
OUT of Place is a collection of forty-six poems that explore emotions, identities and communities as experienced through a gay man's life. The first twenty-three poems are located within a faith setting and take us inside childhood, adolescence and early adulthood, while the remaining twenty-three poems are all located in adulthood and primarily educational contexts. Readers are welcomed into the journey with their own emotions, identities and communities.
John J. Guiney Yallop is a parent, a partner and a poet. He is also an associate professor in the School of Education at Acadia University where he teaches about the creative arts and literacy in learning, teaching and research. John has presented his poetry in local, national and international venues. His writing has appeared in literary and scholarly publications. John lives in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada, with his partner, Gary, their daughter, Brittany, and their pets.
